The afair – Chapter 10

When Lea finally arived at the hospital she rushed through the electronic double doors to the casualties area with Miranda who was carrying Lori close behind her.
She introduced herself and imediatly a nurse ushered her into a waitingroom where her mother was already waiting. Hannah Hansen’s face was tear streaked from crying non stop since she heard about the accident.
Fear overwhelmed Lea again as she hugged her mother.
“Mom don’t tell me it’s….”
“No…no,” Hannah hugged her eldest daughter tight, “The doctor’s are still working on them”
Lea wanted to feel relieved so badly but she was worried. How was it possible that the doctor’s were still working on them? The accident had happened hours ago. Shouldn’t they be finished by now?
The feeling of panick grew overwhelmingly strong as Lea paced the floor of the waitingroom. Hannah sat in the corner still crying while she wrung a piece of tissue in her hands. Lea hated seeing her mother so distraught with worry.
“Have some,” Miranda said softly, handing Lea a styrofoam cup of badly brewed coffee.
Lea took the cup with a slight nod of the head. She didn’t want to say anything aloud because she was afraid of bursting into tears.
“Mrs Thompson and Hanson?” the doctor who came in asked
“Yes,” Lea and Hannah said simultaniously, looking at the doctor. He looked like a kind and generous man. Something about him exuded confidence.
” I am doctor Winston. I am treating Amy.”
“And?” Lea asked impatiently.
Dr Winston looked at his notes and took a few long breaths
“I’m so sorry it took so long but I have run all the neccesary scans, x-rays and tests to determin the extend of Amy’s injuries,” he said, “The accident were vicious and the impact was very severe. So far only one life was lost,”
Lea felt the overwhelming sense of panic again as she sat down on a nearby chair.
“Who…”
“The driver of the other vehicle. He would have made it if he had worn his seatbelt.” Dr Winston explained before pausing again, ” Amy has a broken left arm and a few minor lacerations on her face with a bit of a concussion. She doesn’t have any internal injuries. Her vitals seems okay. We have sedated her so she will be sleeping for a couple of hours,”
Hannah sighed relieved. She had been very worried about Amy.
“Can I go and see her doctor?” Hannah asked.
“Sure,” Dr Winston nodded his head, ” Her room is just down the hall, second door left,”
Lea still sat frozen in place. She was glad that Amy was going to be okay but what about Mark? Why haven’t the doctor said anything about Mark yet?
Doctor Winston looked at Lea.
“Doctor Mckay is still working on your husband. His injuries are a bit more severe than Amy’s. “he touched Lea gently on the shoulder,” Mark had received more of the initial impact. He has severe head injuries and a broken arm too. Dr Mckay will have more details as soon as she’s done.”
Lea just nodded her head. How severe was severe? Did that mean that Mark may still die or will he survive with serious disabilities or not? What were the chances of him recovering fully?
Lea closed her eyes as Lori climbed onto her lap, hugging her tightly. Tears spilled over and she couldn’t stop them anymore. It was worse than a nightmare.
“Everything will be fine Lea. We just have to pray,” Miranda said with her arm around Lea’s shoulders, “God has the power to heal all that is broken, hurt or sick,”
Lea looked at Miranda. She wasn’t sure if God would answer her prayers but it couldn’t hurt trying, could it?
“Let’s pray then,” Lea said swallowing hard on the lump that had formed in her throat as she bowed her head for the first time in a very long time.

A few hours later when the first light of a new day were streaming through the blinds of Amy’s hospital room Hannah was still sitting next to Amy’s hospital bed.

Amy lay there with oxygen tubes in her nose and a drip in her right arm. Her left arm was covered in a cast.
Hannah looked lovingly at her youngest daughter. She longed to hold her close again like she did when both her girls were little.
Hannah moved closer to Amy and smoothed a stray wisp of black hair of her forehead. There were a two centimetre cut across her forehead that was neatly stitched up. Hannah ran her fingers across the smoothness of Amy’s cheek. Amy groaned and then opened her eyes.
“Mom?” she asked in a sleepy voice, “What happened?”
Hannah took Amy’s hand gently in her own, ” Darling don’t worry about it now. Try to sleep some more. I will stay right here with you,”
Amy had already closed her eyes against the too bright sunlight that spilled from the window. In no time at all she was fast asleep again.

Sweet surprises – Carli’s story

It was a super fantastic day for Carli in more than one way when she left her doctor’s room at the hospital. The sun was shining gloriously after two solid days of rain and thunderstorms. And not only did the doctor gave her a clean bill of health but also the news that she and her husband Joshua was finally expecting their first baby after two years of struggling.
She felt so ectatic that she gave the carwatch a very handsome tip. Life was fabulous and beautifull and she simply couldn’t wait to surprise Joshua with the news and she had a very, very nice idea to tell him or more acurately show him the good news.
Carli smiled happily to herself while she drove through the busy city streets of Edenvale. As far back as she could remember she knew Joshua wanted kids. He wanted four and she only two but after compromising and a lot of talking they settled on having three kids when the time came to start a family. When they were celebrating their fourth year of marriage and Joshua’s promotion at work they desided to try for a baby.
Carli pulled her car in the driveway of their house. It wasn’t a very large house but it was cosy and big enough for starting their family and it had a lovely garden that was her pride and joy. She could easily imagine baking mudcakes with their children or Joshua learning them to catch ball.
She couldn’t wait to tell him and she looked forward to it so badly.

When Joshua came home he was met with a trail of rose petals. He followed this trail through the livingroom. The sliding door was open that led to their back garden. A slight breeze made the lace curtain billow. He stepped outside smiling. His wife had made a lovely fire and she was waiting for him dressed only in one of his old shirts with a martini in her hand that she gave to him as soon as he kissed her gently at first. Seeing her like that made his engine rev up a notch or two. He was craving her so badly but he knew he had to wait.
“How was your day at work?” she asked him.
“It was much to long,” he answered before kissing her in her neck just below the ear, “I miss you to much,”
“Really now?” she teased him while her fingers caressed his back, making him shiver.
“Oh yes I did….” he whispered, “All I could think of was making crazy love to you….”
Before Carli could do or say anything else he kissed her again but this time he unleashed all of his built up passion making Carli forget about everything around her.
He unbuttoned the shirt that she was wearing. As it fell from her shoulders he roamed his eyes on her nakedness. She was so beautifull to him and the sight of her made him want her there and then.
He kissed her again while he undressed himself before he picked her up. With her legs cirlcling his waist he entered her. She was moaning with pleasure at this new turn of events because they have never done it oudside before. The slight cool breeze on her hot skin drove her to the brink of insane pleasure and before she knew it they came together. She was experiencing shooting stars and bolts of thunder and when Joshua put her down on her feet it felt like the earth were shaking.
“Whew!” Carli said breathless as she looked at her husband, “That wasn’t what I had in mind but it sure was better.”
“What did you have in mind?” Joshua asked smiling as he played with a lock of her her.
“Uhm…I actually forgot but I think dinner was part of it,”
“I was thinking perhaps we should skip dinner and go straight for more desert…” he let the sentence hang before he kissed her again.

It was much later when they were in bed that she remembered that she wanted to tell him about the baby. That was the reason why she planned on dining outside and everything. Carli smiled as she looked at her sleeping husband. Maybe tommorow then, she thought before she closed her eyes still smiling happily.

The truth about desire – Kate’s story

I always thought I was like every other modern day woman. I was smart, sassy, sexy and thanks to my mother who banged the importance of reading in my head from a very early age, well educated.
Little did I know how little I really knew until I met Tommy one day at church. Boy oh boy! One look at Tommy nearly knocked me of my grand stilletos and messed with my senses. Senses I didn’t even knew I had because I never had a serious liking in any male in all my twenty-one years.
Tommy was just nicely put together with short but untidy brown hair and the strangest mix of green and brown eyes that was covered by long lashes and he had the prettiest, most kissable lips I have ever seen.
When he came to sit next to me in church my heart nearly sky rocketed out of my chest. When he started talking to me I found myself dumbstruck. I guess it’s the old love and first sight thing. Pretty cliche I know.
We had our first date almost a week afterwards and slowly things started to progress into something so serious I was almost consumed by it. The first time we held hands during a movie we watched I was feeling that magical sparks by his touch. I couldn’t concentrate on the rest of the movie. The first time Tommy kissed me I nearly combusted in spontanious flames or atleast that was what it was feeling like.
I had great trouble to stop thinking about ripping his clothes of because my mother said it was indecent and immoral to want a man. To her thinking females where placed on earth purely for males satisfaction.
That caused great confusion in my mind because if it was true then why would a man be bothered with marriage? Nonetheless I kept myself in control even though it was really, really hard.
We got married two years after we have met.
When all the doodaa were finished and we went to our hotel I became very nervous. I was all alone with Tommy and I really didn’t know what to expect. My darling mother just told me to do whatever Tommy wanted to do but not to expect any pleasure comming from ‘It’. My friends said I must go with the flow and enjoy ‘It’.
‘It’ being sex ofcourse and being raised in a strict christian home I didn’t really know what sex was. Mom made sure that whatever sexual scenes I might have encountered while watching television was fake meaning that it wasn’t as enjoyable as the actors portrayed it to be.
On my wedding night I stood in the bathroom, looking at myself in the mirror. I was dressed only in a flimsy white lacey nightgown with matching botoms and it was almost see through. I really felt out of it. No man has ever seen me like that before. I mean I was like pratically naked…
“Kate?” Tommy said after he knocked on the door, “Are you ever going to get out of the bathroom?”
I gulped before answering, “Uhm…yes…I supose,”
I grabbed the matching robe of the flimsy set that was supose to be nighties. I made sure every part of my anatomy was covered as best as it could be covered. I was feeling a bit like a trapped bird or worse like a prisoner that was going to be executed.
“What do we do now?” I asked Tommy nervously when I found enough courage to leave the bathroom.
To my surprise the room was dimly lit with candles making the room burst in different shades of exotic reds and instrumental music was playing softly in the background.
“We just take it slow and see what happens,” Tommy answered the question that I forgot about.
He walked slowly towards me with two glasses of wine. He kissed me gently on the lips before he handed me one of the glasses.
“I know you are nervous Kate. I am too,” he admitted.
“Nervous is somewhat of an understatement,” I said after I took a sip of the wine he gave me, “I don’t really know what to do.”
“Well let’s start with this,” he whispered softly before he bent his head to kiss me.
The kiss started with him teasing my lips with sugar sweet kisses before he took control and kissed me like he never had before. Fire of pure desire burned from within me and before long I was consumed by it.
Without breaking our kiss he gently undressed me, driving me insane with his touches. He only broke the kiss when he pulled the skimpy nightdress over my head.
I barely had time to catch my breath when he started kissing me again. But this time our lips weren’t locked for long. His mouth went to my neck where he kissed me below the ear, then it went lower. I nearly burst out of my skin when his mouth closed around my nipple. The unknown sensation was driving me wild. Just when I thought I couldn’t take it any longer his mouth trailed further downwards. His tongue danced around my navel a bit before he went further. I nearly bolted off the bed when his tongue reached my most private place. I was caught in limbo. I wanted to beg for mercy but at the same time I didn’t want him to stop. When the ultimate feeling of pure ecstasy came it was like an explosion from deep within me. It left me craving for more and Tommy didn’t dissapoint me. He entered me gently at first but I was so overwhelmed by desire that I didn’t feel any pain at all. It was bliss each time our bodies met in rhythm to the union of our love sending us higher and higher untill it felt like we were freefalling.
Much later when we were just lying in each others arms I asked him how he did that and his answer was simple. When loving someone with all that you have everything will follow naturally.

The afair – Chapter 3

                  Chapter 3

Lea was in no mood to clean house so she sat outside watching Lori play happily with her bucket and spade, creating a lovely mess.
But Lea wasn’t minding as much as she usually did. After all both the dirty clothes and her child could be washed or bathed. But Mark’s afair couldn’t be fixed that easily.
She couldn’t help but to wonder how it happend or where she slipped up. She was under the impression that they were happily married and that their lives together was as perfect as it could be.
But the loveletter she found yesterday proved otherwise. Questions were running through her mind like a run away freight train.
How long as it been going on? Did it happen once, twice or even more? Did he love the other woman or was it just sexual?
Lea knew the only person who could give her the answers she needed was Mark. She had to confront him but she wasn’t looking forward to it.
What if he denies it or worse yet what if he admits it and leave her?  She didn’t want a divorce but what if he wants to?

Mark was sitting in Lucy’s livingroom while she was busy making them coffee. It was his guilty pleasure. He knew it was wrong but somehow he couldn’t help himself. He enjoyed Lucy’s company in and out of her bedroom. She made him feel alive and wanted and she knew how to please and be pleased.
Lucy’s only flaw was that she wasn’t as neat but he loved that too. In a lot of ways her untidy apartment was more comfortable than his home which was kept clean and neat with precision.
“What are you thinking about?” Lucy asked breaking the silence.
“I was thinking of how lucky I am too have you,” he answered as he took his cup out of her hands.
“You would even be happier if you stayed here with me,”
“I know darling but I can’t,” he said pulling her slender body closer before he kissed her scarlett couloured lips.
It was all that was needed to distract her from saying what he didn’t want to hear.
Before long they were undressed and spraweled on Lucy’s livingroom carpert. He kissed her everywhere she liked making her groan. She yelled something when his toungue reached her most intimate place. He savoured the taste of her untill she screamed out in pleasure……
Afterwards Mark went to have a shower. He kept a bottle of his favourite shower gel at Lucy’s. He always made sure that Lea wouldn’t be able to smell anything different on him. He knew what he did was wrong but as long as his wife didn’t know and his lover could be distracted nothing prevented him to enjoy the forbidden fruit of pleasure.
“Are you going home now?”Lucy asked standing in the doorway, dressed only in her flimsy nightgown with her red curls framing her beautifull face.
“I have too,” he answered.
“That’s a pity because I really want you to stay…” she moved closer to him and left a feathersoft kiss on his cheek.
He groaned softly before pulling her even closer before he kissed her passionately. She was killing him softly, making him wish for a life so different from the one he had. If only it could be…

Lea sat in front of the television. She tried watching the soap that was currently on tv but she couldn’t concentrate. It was seven o’clock at night and Mark wasn’t home yet.
She guess he was spending some time with his lover because where else could he be?
He had a surprise waiting for him. She didn’t make dinner like she normally did. Lori was eating a ham and cheese sandwich that Lea made for her. Lea wasn’t hungry so Mark would have to fend for himself.
Perhaps she should take Lori and go away for awhile. They could go on a nice holiday while Mark was still working. To have a little revenge she could go shopping for expensive designer shoes and handbags on his credit card or beter yet….she could take a few of her friends to a luxury spa.
He was probably spoiling his lover if it was more than a one night stand. Even if it wasn’t he should pay dearly for his sins.
“Hello,” Mark greeted when he walked through the door, interupting Lea’s thoughts.
“Hi honey,” she greeted back but remained in her seat instead of jumping up to meet him for a kiss.
“I’m sorry for being late,” Mark said, bending over to kiss his wife.
“Where have you been?” Lea asked casually.
“At the office. I’ve got trouble with the account I’m currently working on.” Mark explained.
“Oh,”Lea said simply. She knew he wasn’t telling the truth and it left her feeling furious and with the desire to bash his head in.
“Lea where’s my dinner?”Mark asked from the kitchen doorway.
“There isn’t any Mark. You can make yourself a sandwich,” Lea said, barely managing to keep the anger from her voice.
“Why?” Mark asked surprised, knowing it was unlike Lea to not make dinner.
“Maybe you should ask yourself that,” Lea said, picking Lori up from where she sat playing, “I’m going to bath Lori and then we are going to bed.”
Mark stared dumbfounded after his wife. Something was terribly wrong and he was sure of it now. Could she…No she couldn’t he thought. How could she if he had been so carefull?

The afair – Chapter 2

                  Chapter 2

The atmosphere around the dinner table was as thick as fog. Mark ate his dinner in silence while Lea was absentmindedly playing with her fork, not even noticing the lovely mess Lori was making with her pumkin.
Something was bothering Lea and he couldn’t stop the feeling of unease growing in his gut. He looked around their open planned living/ dinning room. As usual everything was neat and tidy to the point of near perfection. If she was sick there would have been a forgotten cup next to the couch, a toy would remain out of place and the laundry basket would still be full. But most importantly Mark thought, he wouldn’t be eating a proper meal of three different vegetables, brown rice and roasted chicken. Lea didn’t like cooking big when she was under the weather. But then again she had the uncanny ability to keep to herself. Never complaining of so much as a headache or a slight cold. Never asking questions or making demands. In all aspects, Mark thought, he had the perfect wife. That is if perfect means to be married to a ice queen with almost no passion. How he longed for Lea to be like…abrubtly he stood up. He can not be thinking about her now, not when Lea is obviously troubled by something.
“Thank you Lea. Dinner was delicious,” he said. Mostly to break the terible silence.
“Oh,” Lea said startled before placing her fork down, “It’s a pleasure.”
He bent down to kiss her lightly on the lips, knowing that it was out of habit and to save face and feeling worse because of it.
He was stuck between a rock and a very hard place. He wanted out yet he knew it wasn’t fair to Lea or his sweet tempered young daughter. He knew that he was very selfish to love another woman while his very faithfull wife was giving him a very comfortable home and raising their daughter with such tenderness that it left him feeling sufocated.
Feeling lost between his passionate love afair and the responsiblity of his marriage he went to sit in front of the telivision to watch the seven o’clock news while Lea picked Lori up from the table and walked in the direction of the bathroom. He should have offered to bathe his child, he knew but he didn’t feel up to it. He missed her too much.

He made a concentrated efford later that night to make love with his wife. Lea didn’t make any objections when he pulled her closer and kissed her. She closed her eyes when his left hand cupped her breast. It wasn’t because she enjoyed it. His touch left her cold and the stabbing pains in her heart left her nearly breathless. He broke the kiss and entered her with quick, short thrusts. She made the apropriate soft grunting noices to make him believe that she was enjoying it. The letter with the seductive kiss below her name kept running through her head. It’s contents burned into her memory.

I’ve been missing you terribly since our last time together, remembering the way you made love with me…

She was thankfull when Mark pulled out of her and gave her a short peck on the lips. It was done, over now and she knew that he would fall asleep within a few minutes.
She reach out to put the night light off before making herself comfortable beneath the plain blue comforter. She knew sleep wouldn’t come easy as she listen to Mark’s even breathing.
She closed her eyes, remembering the first time she saw him at the youth group. He was so handsome with his shining green eyes nearly covered by his longish black hair. She remembered staring at the muscles in his arms. He caught her staring and with a dazzling smile that lit up his whole face he looked her straight in the face and then he winked.
Without knowing his name or even speaking to him she knew she was deeply in love. When he asked her afterwards if she wanted to go to a nearby restaurant for coffee. She was so astonished that he had invited her for coffee that she barely got a word out. They drove in seperate cars. He in his brand new looking Volkswagen Polo and she in her run down Mini Cooper that her mother gave her when she finished school at Riverdale High.
At the restaurant they ordered bottomless coffee and a plate of greasy potato chips. They talked for hours on end until their waiter informed them that they were closing for the day.
She found out during their conversation that he’s name was Mark, 28 years old and that he worked for a small IT company and played guitar whenever he had time too and he loved the Lord. She couldn’t believe her luck at finding a friend that shared her faith. They got engage six months later and another six months later they got married in the same little church where she met him the first time. Lori was born a year later.
Life was beautifull or at least it was up untill now. How did it happen that Mark is cheating on her? More importantly how did it happen that they moved away from church and God when they once where so passionate about serving Him and saving lost souls?
Oh dear God, Lea prayed silently, what am i suppose to do now? I feel so angry and dissapointed but most off all I”m feeling lost.
Lea fell asleep with a soft, tender voice in her head said, “Be still and know that I am God,”

The afair -1st chapter

                  chapter 1

Lea Thompson looked out of her kitchen window. It was a glorious african summer day. The sky was crystal clear and the sunrays danced through out the neat little garden, painting everything in bright coulours. Perhaps she should take Lori out today. She could drive to the petting zoo. Lori would love petting the bunnies and feeding the sheep and afterwards she could play in the play area which had a lovely sandpit. Lori loved playing with sand. It would also be nice to relax with a nice cup of rooibos tea and a piece of strawberry cheesecake. As a treat thought Lea smugly.
She has been a good girl, steering clear of sweet things and carbs and everything deliciously fattening. Lea saw her reflection in the glass sliding door that gave access from the living room out into the garden.
She still has a long way to go to achieve her goal but she liked the tiny glimpse of sexyness that shone through. She posed on tip toe and threw her long, curly brown hair through the air, making Lori giggle with delight at her mother’s sillyness.
Lea smiled afectionately before she bent over to give her two year old a hug.
“That’s right Boo. Before you know it your mama is going to be a sexy supermodel,”
Lori looked at her mother big eyed, “Mama sexy….Mama ‘eautifull.”
Lea shuffeled Lori’s hair. She used to be, thought Lea. Long ago when she wore Levi’s and designer shoes. When she met her friends in expencive coffee shops, listening to the Parlotones and read the Cosmopolitan from back to front. She also used to go to church and attend Bible studies with the youth group that gathered every friday evening, Lea rememered with a pang in her heart as she walked back to the kitchen to finish her laundry. She waited for the tumbledryer to stop, loaded the next load and started folding the clothes on the kitchen counter in neat little piles.
Perhaps she should make a point of going to church again, thought Lea. Even if it’s just the morning service and not the gatherings on friday evenings. She has been slipping through the guilt feelings of not going to church because after Lori’s birth life became so hectic. Weekends were consumed visiting friends or inviting them for a braai*. There was just always so much to do. Especialy on a sunday morning after the previous night’s party. Who could go to church with a dirty kitchen an a living room that was trashed with empty beer and alcohol bottles and ashtrays overflowing with sigarette butts….At least she managed to get her house a non smoking zone after a huge fight with Mark who thought nothing wrong with smoking inside. But Lea held firm stating it was selfish to smoke in the presence of s child struggling with sinusitus. After six weeks of not being allowed to smoke indoors Mark gave up smoking and started to drink a beer or two every afternoon when he came home from work. Lea didn’t like it much but desided to not push him to quit drinking too since he wasn’t drunk after drinking just two beers.
Lea picked up the neatly folded piles of clothing to put it away. Opening Mark’s closet she smiled at the rumpled mess inside. Slowly she took out all the clothing on their double bed. As she turned around she caught a glimpse of paper that fell on the plush carpet infront of the closet. She picked it up quickly, her heart beating heavily in her chest when she saw the handwriting of another woman and a scarlet kiss at the bottom of the page.

Lea sat shocked at the end of the bed with the letter stil clutch in her shaky hands. How can this be happening? She always thought they were happilly married. They hardly ever fought. To tell the truth she could count on one hand the times they did have a serious argument. Mark didn’t complain about how the household was run or the finances managed. She herself made a point to not complain about silly things and she was always available and ready in bed if he needed her.
Lea looked at her wristwatch. It was time for Lori’s lunch and then it was naptime. She sighed as she looked at the piles of clothes on her bed. She will sort it out later she desided. Later when she has the strenght to face the rest of the skeletons that might fall out of her husband’s closet.

Looking at her sleeping little girl Lea fought with the whirlwind of emotions going through her. Pain was the strongest with bitter resentment towards the unknown object of her husband secret lustfull desires. Hate wasn’t far behind and that left her with a feeling of being desperately lost.
Lea played with a golden strand of Lori’s hair while lost deep in inocent sleep.
She had absolutely no idea how to handle the unwanted situasion. Should she confront him head on when he comes home from work or should she wait until confronted with more evidence of Mark’s afair? What if he denies it or worse what if he admits to loving someone e
